Rough Waters

It's been a hard week or sorts. I don't know why. Perhaps it's just hard to readjust to our regular schedule at home. I don't know really. Everyone is emotional and we're all need a little more sleep. We did have one big moment when my girl went you-know-what on the p*tty. That was huge, and I think we're on our last box of regular diapers...on to pull ups-right? AK will have to tell me because I've never done this before. I haven't even read a book about it either.

In the light of Christmas coming our family has come up with a new plan: No more adult gifts! Hooray! We decided to keep gifts for kids, and our adult stockings at mom and dad's house. The major buying for all the adults is outtahere! Whew, it costs a lot of money to buy all the gifts for all the grown ups. Besides, I'd rather just get one big gift from my husband at Christmas and forego all the small ones. So I can see that many hours of shopping for Christmas just freed up this year. So instead I think we are going to pay more attention to needs around the world as opposed to ourselves. Anyone hear of Plumpynut recently? If you haven't...check the link and get your tissues ready. It's an amazing creation.

I didn't read anything about potty training. I figured when they were ready they would be ready. I started buying Pullups and encouraged them to sit on the potty whenever possible. Both of my kiddos lasted until they were three. When it came time they took a week to get it under control. I used sticker charts. J earned his Buzz Lightyear doll. He told everyone in the checkout line at Toys-r-us that he went you-know-what on the potty and that's why he gets Buzz. Em wanted to take ballet. I said that she couldn't take a dance class in a diaper. She was ready in a week for dance class.

I know some people that hold their kiddos over the toilet as infants. They knew their kiddos bowl and bladder habits so well that they rarely changed a dirty diaper. Those kiddos were trained a little earlier than most.
