Saturday...4 more to go
I have 4 Saturdays left until the baby is due. Or so I think. You never know with second babies. So it might be less, or a few days more. We got a lot done today...sorted more baby boy clothes and added to the immense pile of give-away clothes. I moved some items to my closet that were in the baby's room...and got it squared away. My DH mowed the lawn and it looks good, save the big brown patch in the middle where we need to re-seed. He also went and picked up a slide we were given and put it in the back yard. I had company over and my daughter was almost completely independent of me the whole time. That was a new feeling and experience. I was able to have adult conversation at length...with her in the room! Pretty amazing. My DH cleaned out a drawer and got rid of a lot of junk...and I got a shower and a short nap. Oh, and I picked my first apple from my own tree! It was still pretty sour but at the rate the apples are dropping off the tree, by the time it is ready to pick, there won't be any left. So that was cool, to bite into an apple from a tree that I planted and nurtured for 3 years. Next few years we should get a lot more. But that was a very satisfying thing overall. I felt very granola and "Momma Earthy".
Quite the list of accomplishments!
Although during our conversation with the ladies who came over it came up that rent for a 2 bedroom townhouse in the town near ous is about $850 a month. A 2 bedroom house in our neighborhood (not that nice folks...built like 75) goes for $1100 a month. Ummm...does that seem right? That just seems like a whole lot of money for rent. Plus added utilities..and that's a truckload of money. Another comment was made about a new car purchased very recently and the payments plus insurance were $615 a month. That one almost made me choke on my ice tea. A car payment with insurance that tops $600? Um, what kind of car is it? A Ferrari? A gilded Honda? Wow...it made me very happy with my crummy little Saturn...that has air conditioning. A we got the window fixed so now all the windows go up and down. It's paid for, and it's 8 years old...but it doesn't cost me $600 a month. I think that's about what is costs me per year in tires, maintanence and fees. Perhaps a little more every other year. But $600? Really?
Am I totally out of the loop on this one ladies?
