We're still here!

I had to put the brakes on my on-line time this past week to get a project done. I volunteered to do the nuts and bolts of the Mexico Devotional for our church youth group. The youth director supplied the material and I made it all one cohesive book and edited and put in my two cents where needed. The hard part wasn't the typing in the info, it was learning how to use new open-office shareware! I used a Neo draw program so I had flexibility with the format, but as a result I had to go through a lot of hoops to make it work. In the end, I decided to go "Old School" with the printing to make it correct. We tried valiantly to get the double sided feature to work with the copier. Apparently I lack the know how for that one because we could NOT get it to work properly. We tried every possible combination of features...even the ones specifically designed to copy a book (which we basically had already). Nothing would work right...it's a slightly older machine and our little church doesn't need a lot of fancy bells and whistles for what we do on a weekly basis. My other hitch was that I made the whole booklet as a half sheet. Every other Mexico Devotional ever done with our church was a whole page and that would have been a lot faster! But all the kids who looked at it last night though it was the nicest one they'd had yet. So although it took us 5 hours to print it out and start to assemble...I hope it's all worth it for the kids who use it down in Mexico. So for you ladies who are former sectretaries and youth interns...you know what I mean. Next time I'll do it differently...and it will go a lot faster. We finally left at 9:45pm when I found out the youth director had already left for the night. I had a room full of high schoolers (who were awesme by the way) and an intern and I kicked them out and locked up. Hopefully the rest of the books can be bound this morning with little fanfare!

So as a result of this project I had to put myself on internet restriction and I haven't looked at any sites (hardly any) for some time. I haven't posted or anything! We've just been playing outside when I am not glued to the laptop. Which brings me to my last new: WE GOT A NEW MAC!

Yes, JW, I got a MAC. I know I spent years as a die-hard IBM compatible kind of girl, but I have seen the errors of my ways. You were right, Mac's don't spend hours all messed up with software issues...or crach unexpectedly. They are very stable and I feel like I went from driving a beat up Ford truck to a new sleek (slightly used) Honda Accord with all power features and leather seats. This little thing is awesome and it's small, cute and has every feature I need. I also have Safari as my browser and I like it better too. So I am sorry for all the crap I gave you about Macs in the past...I get it now. Please forgive me for all the eye-rolling when I was at AGI!
Here is a picture of the type I have:Ok, nevermind I can't find a good picture. Suffice to say it's cool and I really like it. My husband is GOOD TO ME!

Oh, you go girl! I know that Macs aren't for everyone just like homeschool isn't for everyone, but when you spend some quality time with a Mac there is no going back.

Ugh. I'm not sure my computer can talk to yours now. I like their commercials, but, well...ugh! Oh well, there's always the phone! (Just kiddin')!
