Owls and Observing Nature

Since my girl was born I always called her delicate girl parts "Hoo hoo". Boys have a "ding-ding". This was never an issue since it never came into question until last week. I was changing the daiper of the little boy I watch, and we were on the couch-right at eye level for my girl. She wandered over and she was amazed at what she saw! We talked about how he had different parts and that's why he was a boy. She was all too eager to get her diaper changed afterwards to reassure she had what she always did.

So, all this to say that we recently got a book out that features an owl. We go through all the barn animals and make their sounds as we go through the story. Imagine her confusion when we got the sound of the owl...

We've now started using proper names for all the delicate parts.

Very funny. We started using the technical terms at an early age to avoid any confusion. Judi taught me a term that she and her friends used in college to call the "Hoo-Hoo." I won't type it up here.
