Tell Me You Saw This

Last night PBS broadcast the Jonestown story on American Experience. It was riveting and heart-sickening but produced in very good taste. I highly suggest you see it soon. I have a few friends who attend(ed) a cult church and their experiences rang out as I listened to the interviews of former People's Church members. All the signs were there: elitism, all encompassing church involvement, heavy pressure to give money to the cause, inappropriate discipline of church members, semi-Bible based theology, unquestionable loyalty from the members, charismatic church leader who does not adhere to his own message and finally, separation of church members from their own families.
