Split the Money
AK suggested we split the money to do a bit of each. Like do the upstairs windows, but then replace the back deck. Sadly, we've thought of that, but so much of this is tied together. Like, we can't replace the deck without tearing out the sprinkler system because the system runs right under the deck, in fact it is centered under the deck area. So, I guess if we tore that out, but left the pipes underground, and didn't have a sprinkler system this year we could replace the scary deck. Then next year we could do the system again...I don't know.
Anyway, I also think if we are going to replace windows and doors we out to do as many at once as we can. That lowers the time we spend dealing with remodel materials and cleaning up. We've done two major areas of this house already and both clean up jobs were really a bear. I'd like to get the clean up started about 6 weeks before the baby is due. It takes a very long time, a lot of carpet cleaning, wall wiping, window cleaning, and just plain detail work.
So, I don't know where this puts us for the project. Our contractor comes Thursday for the new estimates for the work we want done. Also, my weird tree guy is coming on Thursday to look at our beautiful aspen that is still hanging over the yard. I thought it would have stood itself upright by now, but alas, as I look outside it stretches itself over the yard with the branches touching the ground. I hope we haven't lost this tree, I like it a lot.
That enough banality for now, have a good Tuesday!
PS The photo is of Milgard windows the same series we used to replace the other windows a few years ago.
