No mention of moving, mice, neighbors or cats

I can see that I've been heavy handed with my entries about neighborhood and home issues so I am endeavoring to blog about something else entirely!

Recently my former boss from the school I worked in for a year suggested that I go back to school and get my special ed endorsement and Masters in Teaching. I just couldn't come up with a reason to say no. It sounded so realistic and wonderful. Special Ed teachers can get a job anywhere and basically can set their own hours. If I want to work part time then I can. I would still have time to be with my kids and complete some work at night at home. I loved working with special ed kids because it is one-to-one work. Most classroom teachers have 30 kids these days. How much one-to-one work happens there? Or even small group teaching? It's pretty rare even with the best of teachers.

I just looked up the closest program in our area and it is a full year of school with practicum to work in the local schools. There is also a grant program that funds $5K of youth tuition costs if upon completion of the program you work in an Oregon school for 3 years. Seeing as how the cost of living is going up around here...I can see that pretty soon I'll have to work anyway. Why not go back to my first love? I'd get back into PERS and I would have a break in the summer to be with my kids all day. Eventually my kids will be in school and so it is ideal to work in one too.

What do you all think?
