No, I really heard a mouse..we are so moving
Last night Sarah woke up with a heart stopping scream. A "I am scared out of my wits" kind of scream. I went in to her room and got her quieted down and she went back to sleep. That got me thinking and so I fished out the little book light and went snooping in her room for a mouse. I found some mouse poop. That confirms it, we have a mouse in the house.
YUCK. DOUBLE YUCK! I DEPLORE RODENTS!
So, I got AJ and we gingerly took the girl out of the bed and into ours. We then went through her whole room looking for a mouse. All we found was mouse evidence. Thankfully I found a Rodent repel device that Linda H gave a few weeks ago to repel the cats. So I turned that on in the baby's room and that helped me sleep knowing those little beady eyed mini-monsters wouldn't bother by baby. Oh golly how I dislike mice. Those little suckers are able to get through a hole the size of a pencil. So it could have come into the house any number of ways. AJ was MAD. Really mad about it. He's even still mad today. He is frustrated that we even have to deal with all of this. I understand completely. I hate it too.
So this morning we were off the Lowe's bright and early (why can't Home Depot build their store any faster?) and we bought 10 new plastic tubs and some Super size Ziploc bags and a dust buster to boot. Obviously the tubs were to store everything in her room that is made of paper, material or any other edible substance. The Ziploc bags were for storage of other items. so we cleaned out her room from top to bottom and everywhere inbetween. No mice, but I left that repel device on anyway. We also bought mice poison and a few traps. Hopefully that will do the trick.
I think this has pushed us over the edge and now we have agreed (tentatively) to move. Not out of the Rogue valley, but to a new house that doesn't have so many little (and big) repairs and replacements. I love our lot and I like our neighborhood, but not so much that I will put another $50-75K into this house. It's just not worth going paycheck to paycheck (almost) just to fund house repairs. We're not destitute folks...but exactly how much are we supposed to spend on housing? I think Larry Burkett (Crown Financial Ministries) suggests it doesn't exceed 30% of our monthly income. This house eats more then that. Did I mention that we're still having trouble with the AC system? Yeah the one that cost us my whole income for 5 months last year. It's still not operating correctly and it won't keep a constant temp upstairs. So, add that to the "Cons" list for moving.
I hate mice...and I hate moving. But I hate mice more. ..moving wins.
Now, where on earth are we going to move to?
