It's been 10 days since my last blog...

Since it's been a while since I posted here is the latest news:

1. I've been invited to speak on Father's Day at the church. I am both excited and very apprehensive about it. I want to be funny and poingant and relevant for fathers (and all men for that matter) who are in church on Sunday morning. I vacillate between wanting to talk about what makes men "manly" in God's eyes and mine and in essence encourage men to be manly. Not to go out and shoot guns necessarily, but moreso to embrace manliness in the church and know that makes them very attractive in God's eyes and mine. Some of the ideas I keep coming back to are:

  • God made man in His image and we women like it that way.
  • God likes it when men stick to convictions aka stay the course to the end.
  • God likes men who do what He says (etc) Is this the same as the first idea?

Some of the other ideas I come back to are:

  • Father's can instill discipline in their children which is the start to all good things.
  • Father's can also model how to manage pride which is the start of all evil or sin. (wow, that is poorly phrased)

So I am going around and around with this whole thing, and I only have about 6 or 7 minutes to address the congregation. As such I need brevity and wit to keep it within the limited time.

2. Our girl is teething and she finally got her two front teeth! They are just little tiny edges in her mouth but she now has some relief from teething and gnawing! Whew! What a relief! She also started to crawl yesterday and got about two consecutive "army crawls" in before she flopped over and resorted to the "rotisserie chicken" method she currently employs.

3. We are now officially adults. We have a real bed, with a real bed frame and a new mattress and boxspring. We are grown ups now I tell ya. It is so nice to get out of bed and not hear the wood creaking in the box spring. That last bed was so loud it used to wake up Sarah when I got up and went to the restroom in the middle of the night.

4. I am considering finding a job where I can have Sarah with me. Incredibly narrow search parameters I know...but since our cars are starting to fail in a few ways I can see that we will soon need to make a car payment(Lord willing a mini van perhaps?). Also, we'd like to be able to have another baby and the co-pays and labs alone will bankrupt us otherwise. So please pray for us in that regard.

Here's a photo of the new bed:

Hi there...thank you very much for the kind and applicable words of support about how excruciating changing my eating habits can be! I read alot of your blogging and enjoyed! Jealous of the new bed. My husband and I have to get one one of these years. We are simply on a frame. Recently bought a historic townhome in Lynchburg Va. Whereabouts are you?
