Synopsis of the week
I can tell I am feeling a lot better because I have started numerous projects with the DH that are just hanging around, unfinished and guilt producing. We have a compressor in the entryway from the installation of the floor trim. We got as far as the living room put in, but only one wall is caulked. So everything is undone and pulled away from the walls. I don't like that feeling. It makes me want to forget cleaning at all since the rest of the room is unfinished. But I press on with my weekly schedule of cleaning. Today was "clean the master bath" and I got it done alright! I even snuck in some ironing and now I don't have any shirts waiting to be ironed! I hate ironing. If my DH ever makes over 100K a year, I am taking his shirts to the dry cleaners as a present to myself.
Yesterday I went a little berzerk. With the baby teething...or so I thought and her last round of shots I felt like I was going to jump off the deck if I didn't get an hour to myself (Remember, the deck is only 1.5 feet off the ground, it's the thought that counts...). Anyway he sweetly came home at my behest and I went outside for 90 glorious minutes. 90 minutes! All to myself! It was blissful and sweaty and I think I pulled a muscle in my back. I finally got the rest of my plants in the ground save the bare root roses and some of my seed starts that aren't ready yet. Frankly you can't tell where I planted the watermelon or pumpkins in the center island planting area because of all the weeds that have sprouted. When those little two plants take off their leaves will shade most of the ground in that area and then I can keep the ivy killed off with Round-Up. Ivy is insidious and I can see why it is now classified as a "noxious weed". I watered everything in and now I just need to keep the watering on my daily schedule and I think my vegetables and fruits will make it!
Alan and I just talked through a possible back yard lay-out and I think I will move the garden to the south side of the property next year. It gets more sun and should be easier to access. The space just below the deck in the center of the yard (where the garden sits now) will be partially covered by a larger deck, and a rose grotto of Alan's. We can also landscape and put in space for a small pond or water feature when our kids are older and we have the time and money. Right now we really need to replace the deck, the stairs to the patio (part of the deck) and get the lawn in shape. Alan thinks we should cut out the lawn in August and then re-seed in September. I am hard pressed to say no when I look out at the dandelion pastures. By spring when Sarah is really mobile we will have a better lawn that isn't full of pricklies!
Well, after my "free gardening session" aka "free therapy" I got a quick shower and I went to a Girl's Night Out with 5 women from different Koinenea groups from the church. We had Thai food, some drinks (none for me, it makes my joints hurt) and good conversation. It was a really nice time. I was so proud of myself for leaving ontime and getting home only 1 minute after I promised I would! I think that's a record.
After all that I feel like a new woman!
